Return to Monkey Island is coming to Xbox consoles and Game Pass next week, and we’ve just scanned the point-and-click adventure game’s achievement list.
After a stint of exclusivity on Nintendo Switch and Steam, Return to Monkey Island finally launches for Xbox Series X|S on November 8th, where it will also join Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass on day one. We have also now picked up the Return to Monkey Island achievements, so you can see what you’ll be going up against before the game’s release. Ron Gilbert’s Return to Monkey Island continues the story of The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge. Our boy Guybrush Threepwood has found himself “adrift and unfulfilled,” having never found the Secret of Monkey Island. Elaine Marley, Threepwood’s one true love, is no longer governing and has also lost interest in Guybrush. Meanwhile, young pirate leaders led by Captain Madison have “shuffled the old guard from power,” Melee Island has taken a turn for the worse, and famed businessman Stan has been “imprisoned for marketing-related crimes.” You will banter with new and old friends on familiar islands that are now under a new and dangerous leadership, before taking to the high seas to explore the “new and unknown as you work your way out of tough predicaments.”
The Return to Monkey Island achievement list looks pretty varied. We have the usual story, collectable, and cumulative achievements. However, there is one achievement for speeding through the game in under two hours, which might not be to everyone’s taste.
